Nestled in the charming heart of Porto Azzurro, Osteria Clandestina is a delightful Italian restaurant that offers an authentic taste of Elba’s local culinary treasures. Located on Via D'Alarcon, this intimate eatery exudes a warm, inviting ambiance where attentive staff greet you with genuine smiles, making every visit feel like a special occasion.
The culinary focus here is unmistakably Italian with a refreshing emphasis on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Diners rave about their pasta dishes, especially the seafood-infused variations that burst with vibrant, oceanic flavors, perfectly complemented by the rustic yet refined sauces. The “Legno del Clandestine” antipasto stands out as a masterpiece—an artfully presented wooden board brimming with a symphony of fresh, seasonal bites that awaken the palate with every taste.
For meat lovers, the rabbit special is not to be missed. Its tender meat paired with a delicate, flavorful sauce creates an unforgettable dish that lingers long after the last bite. While the menu remains focused and curated, daily specials displayed on the entrance board invite guests to explore hidden gems and seasonal delights, all thoughtfully prepared with passion and respect for local produce.
Osteria Clandestina’s atmosphere is cozy but refined, ideal for intimate dinners or a relaxed lunch while watching the lively square from your table. Though it lacks outdoor seating, the inside setting more than makes up for it, creating a private little world where the joys of Italian cuisine and genuine hospitality come together.
Visitors repeatedly praise the impeccable service, highlighting the staff’s dedication to sharing culinary knowledge—such as their gentle encouragement to appreciate the qualities of their dishes without balsamic vinegar, ensuring every flavor is savored authentically. While some have noted that a pasta ragu had a bit too much salt, the majority find the overall experience exceptional and worth returning for.
In essence, Osteria Clandestina feels like an undiscovered gem on Elba, where each meal narrates a beautiful story of place, tradition, and the art of inviting guests to savor Italy at its most genuine. Whether you’re a pasta aficionado or a seafood lover, this charming restaurant more than earns its reputation as one of the best culinary spots on the island. If you find yourself in Porto Azzurro, dining here is an unmissable culinary journey.

Most amazing place in Elba with perfect service with a smile. We had ‘Legno del clandestine’ with great presentation and lovely fresh flavors.

Average at best. We had lunch here, service was very nice, insalata mista was very fresh. Our two pastas (one ragu, one fish) were average at best, the ragu had too much salt. Also they're apparently trying to educate their customers (always a great idea) because they don't serve balsamico. No outdoor seating.

We had pasta with fish and with crab. We also tried the rabbit. Would definitely recommend it. The offers in the menu are limited, but they are available in the board at the entrance. Staff was very friendly.

Probably the most sunderrated place in Porto Azzurro. Very nice food, rigorously only from local producers. Kind and prepared staff. In the picture: a super 'antipasto' for 2, the 'legno'

We came here as they had rabbit on the special menu. It was delicious and very nice flavours in the sauce. The staff were lovely and we could look through to the square from our table. Perfect little find. Ps. Like the art piece!
